Freakier Friday (2025) revives the iconic body-swap comedy, but with a multigenerational twist. Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) is now a bestselling self-help author, while her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) juggles life as a high-powered music executive and single mother. When Anna’s teenage daughter Harper (played by Mckenna Grace) gets into a bitter argument with her mom and grandma, an ancient family necklace—once locked away—triggers an unexpected triple body-swap.
Tess ends up in Harper’s body, Harper finds herself in Anna’s adult life, and Anna wakes up in Tess’s much older body. With each woman scrambling to survive in their new realities, chaos ensues: Harper (in Anna’s body) accidentally fires a rising pop star, Anna (in Tess’s body) ruins a TV interview, and Tess (in Harper’s body) gets detention for talking back to a teacher.
Hilarious and heartwarming moments unfold as the characters learn empathy and hidden truths. The final act centers around Harper’s school talent show, where a disaster nearly unfolds until all three women unite onstage for an impromptu musical number—restoring their original selves in the process.
With its $65 million budget, the film balances heartfelt storytelling, slick choreography, and nostalgic callbacks to the 2003 hit. The finale shows a healed, empowered family—Tess rekindles romance, Anna finds balance, and Harper gains newfound respect for both women.
