Set in the rugged heartland of Western Australia, Kangaroo (2025) follows ex-soldier Jack Marrin (Ryan Corr), who returns to his hometown to care for his estranged mother, Ruth (Deborah Mailman), after a mining accident. Jack finds the community torn apart by a controversial government wildlife cull targeting kangaroos blamed for crop damage.

Young wildlife activist Billie (Lily Whiteley) leads local resistance, believing the animals are being exploited by corrupt officials. Jack tries to stay neutral, but when Billie discovers shocking footage of illegal experiments on kangaroos, he’s pulled into the fight. Brooke Satchwell plays Sarah, a conflicted government liaison hiding a secret past with Jack. As tensions escalate, Jack must choose between duty and conscience. The climax sees him rescuing Billie during a protest gone violent and exposing the truth to the media.
